Turn 3: Translated

[I’m assuming that the crew was notified, the officers returned to the bridge and the order was given to activate the interfogulator and jump to Psi Tauri 9. This Turn will be rather short in case I assumed too much.]
------------------------------------------------------------
The interfogulator in the Drives Room hums to life. Lights blink and gauges spin, a web of blue energy, a visible grid of the planes, surrounds the device.
Instantaneously, the Deeds of Glory vanishes and reappears, motionless, in normal space, 500,000 miles from Psi Tauri 9.   At a vast distance, the star Psi Tauri is visible as a gold pinhead.
On the bridge, the voice of Deeds, “All systems appear stable. Sensors detect no spacecraft in range and no inter-planar lifeforms aboard ship.”

  1. Falyai removes the draft emergency message from the active registers, and initiates the post-translation consistency profile verification of Deeds. Doubtless it takes Deeds microseconds to complete the standard array of questions; Falyai then seals and stamps a copy of the results, retrieves a copy of the previous results, verifies they haven't been tampered with and then crosschecks against the current results. Her practiced skill makes this a rapid process. Once it's clear that Deeds' mind has not (as far as the standard profile verification can tell) been affected by the translation, she reports, "Captain, Deeds' personality profile appears unaffected by our trip. Shall I prepare a standard message of arrival for Imperial Command or would you prefer to wait until further situation assessment can be completed?"

  2. Dr. Mors excuses himself and returns to the Medlab to make sure everything is ready for possible casualties.

OOC: Is there a MedLab version of Deeds or does Deeds also function in a medical capacity?

  3. Payákár feels just a flash of pride that all went so well. Good team. The extra hours are always worth it. The Páchi Léi's protrusions droop ever so slightly, a silent and unconscious acknowledgement.

Still, the systems will need a good look over after that, and might be needed again soon enough.

Payákár formally takes leave once again and follows Dr. Mors off the bridge, wondering not for the first time at human construction.

Two legs! Marvellous, but so unstable.

  4. As soon as Deeds informed her of the ship's status, Lalei started issuing orders:

"Yes Lieutenant, contact the fleet then start trying to hail the station."

"Chompy, plot a course that will bring us into a geosynchronus orbit with the research station."

"Deeds, keep our shields up and keep gunnery control at the ready. Also alert us immediately if scanners detect any new or anomalous contacts."

"XO, take us to Psi Tauri 9 at best possible velocity."

She punched a button on her couch's armrest. "Mr Nek, prepare your robot landing party for immediate launch on my command."

  5. [Admin] I notice from my RSS feed that this turn's posting seems to have lost two comments. I'll replace them from the copies I have in my aggregated feed, and try to properly attribute them. If people replace their original commentary themselves, I'll remove my added comment entries.

  8. Falyai says, "Yes, Captain."

She then contacts the fleet, with the details gathered so far, and commences to hail the station on the standard spectrum allotted for Research Station communications, as well as the standard Emergency spectrum, just in case.

  9. @Viktor: Thanks for filling in the missing comments. Looks like you got them all.

@ All: I bailed on blogger out of frustration and had a few busy work days but will post the next turn later tonight or tomorrow and try to get back on schedule.

  10. @phf:Deeds serves as the medlab AI, It multi-tasks well. The joy & health Yeleth acts as a go between as well...she can interface with Deeds and serve as the sickbay AI...
